Egyptian restaurant now open in Greensboro, USA
With the revolution in Egypt still creating headlines, a new Greensboro restaurant hopes to capitalize on the interest in the country.
Cleopatra’s Restaurant has opened in the space formerly occupied by Basil’s and Co. on Westover Terrace in Greensboro.
Yasser Abdel-Aziz, who relocated to Greensboro from Seattle to become an engineer at Honda Aircraft Co., always wanted to open a restaurant, said his wife, Rebekah Pykosh
“I think he felt it was the right time because people would be the most receptive to it right now,” she said.
Customers of Cleopatra’s will be able to find a wide range of Egyptian and Middle Eastern fare, ranging from lamb kabobs to a “King Tut” salad and a traditional dish called Mulu’khia that is served with rice. Pykosh said the entrees will be made by a chef with more than 30 years of experience.
Cleopatra’s will also add to the growing and diverse mix of restaurants in Greensboro, where African Continental Cuisine recently opened in the 1,900-square-foot space formerly occupied by Riva’s Trattoria restaurant at 257 N. Greene St.
