Electricity Companies to Bear Stamp Duty Levied On Low-Income Electricity Bills

Some measures will be taken to make the electricity bill easier to be paid by the citizens and deliver supply to those who deserve it.

Electricity Minister Hassan Younis asserted that the ministry companies will bear the stamp duty levied on the electricity consumption bills for the first segment of consumption to make it easier for the low-income citizens.

Younis' remarks came in statements on Tuesday 13/12/2011 after a meeting with Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation Hisham Qandeel to coordinate between both ministries on several developmental projects in Egypt.

Some measures will be taken to make the electricity bill easier to be paid by the citizens and deliver supply to those who deserve it, he said. The ministries of finance and environment will fund the electricity consumption especially for the clean and renewable energy, said Younis.

Also, Younis pointed out to the ministry's measures to limit pollution, face climate change and reduce the carbon percentage and the green house effect in Egypt due to the electricity generation.
