Gov't Affirms: Work in All New Plants in Damietta Suspended

The Cabinet has suspended all construction works in plants which are being built in Damietta governorate until making sure that they conform with environmental standards.

The government is keen to meet all environmental standards in factories and establishments in Damietta governorate and port, the Cabinet said Sunday.

The Cabinet also said that Mopco Fertilizers Plant in the governorate should comply with the environmental standards before obtaining a license to set up a new plant for industrial wastewater.

In this regard, Governor of Damietta Major General Mohamed Ali Flaifel said the Supreme Council of the Armed Forces has ordered shutting down Mopco chemicals plant in response to the wish of Damietta residents.
