The secretary general of Egypt's Freedom & Justice Party said on Wednesday that it wanted to make use of Turkey's economic development experiences should it become the ruling party.

Saad al-Katatny said the party would encourage liberal economy and support development projects if it came to power.

"We want to make use of Turkey's experiences and therefore we have established communication channels with Turkey," al-Katatny told AA correspondent in an exclusive interview ahead of the first free elections to take place in Egypt after Hosni Mubarak regime was demolished.

Al-Katatny said the party was against army's assuming a political role, and therefore it could not accept armed forces to impose its own power on the constitution to protect the state.

The secretary general said soldiers should not intervene in politics, and leave politics to politicians.

A-Katatny also said Freedom and Justice Party was respecting Turkish Prime Minister and Turkish people, and appreciating Premier Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

The Freedom and Justice Party was formed by the Muslim Brotherhood in May 2011.
