Egyptian Companies to Storm Trade Fair in Ethiopia
The 4th “Buy Ethiopian” trade fair of the Ethiopian Chamber of Commerce and Sectoral Association (ECCSA), which is set to be opened two weeks later at the Addis Ababa Exhibition Center, has attracted lots of Egyptian companies.
Out of the total 45 foreign companies registered to participate in the trade fair, 32 are from Egypt, according to Gashaw Debebe, Secretary General of ECCSA, who briefed journalists this morning.
“Collaborating with Ethiopian Embassies abroad and chambers of different countries, we have been inviting companies from all over the world to attend this trade fair. The fact that we have got many Egyptian companies shows best performances of Business Council of Egypt, in promoting the business opportunities in Ethiopia to the Egyptian companies,” Gashaw said, reflecting on the issue.
Companies from India, Oman, United Arab Emirates and Italy are also among the foreign companies to participate in ECCSA’s trade fair which is set to be opened November 11, 2011.
Including the local companies along with Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) a total of 242 companies are registered to participate in the trade fair. This year the number of participants has increased by 71 as compared to last year, according to the organizers.
The main objective of the trade fair is to facilitate technology transfer and encourage manufacturing of products locally by linking foreign companies with local firms and entrepreneurs,
“It is not like any other trade fair focused in making money. It is focused and specialized in investment promotion and promoting local products and services,” he said.
