Turkey has emerged as one of the most active foreign investors in Egypt’s Suez Canal Economic Zone, particularly in Qantara West, where Turkish capital is helping build a dense, export-oriented industrial cluster. Below is a roundup of the most significant Turkish-backed projects shaping the zone, each reflecting a different layer of Egypt’s manufacturing and logistics ambitions.

Eroğlu Global Holding: Packaging at industrial scale

The largest recent Turkish investment in Qantara West comes from Eroğlu Global Holding, which signed a $175 million agreement with the Suez Canal Economic Zone to build a large cardboard and packaging factory.

The project spans 70,000 square metres and will produce aseptic cartons, cardboard boxes, and corrugated sheets at scale. Around 50 percent of output is earmarked for export, and the factory is expected to create about 2,000 direct jobs. This is Eroğlu’s fourth project in Qantara West, making it the single largest industrial investor in the zone.

Şirikçioğlu Grubu: Denim for global brands

In textiles, Şirikçioğlu Grubu is anchoring Qantara West’s denim supply chain with a $20 million denim fabric factory.

The plant covers 16,700 square metres and is designed to produce 18 million pieces of fabric annually, with roughly half exported and the rest supplied to local garment manufacturers. The project adds around 500 direct jobs and strengthens Egypt’s position as a near-shore denim production base for European and US brands.

UR-SA: Industrial textiles and packaging

Another Turkish textile player, UR-SA, is investing $20 million in an industrial textiles and plastic packaging facility in Qantara West.

The factory, spread over 35,000 square metres, will manufacture agricultural and industrial packaging materials, technical textiles, and FIBC bags. Around 80 percent of production is export-oriented, and the project is expected to generate 1,000 direct jobs, reinforcing Qantara West’s role as a textile and packaging hub.

HIPER Plastic: Recycling and circular industry

Turkey’s footprint in SCZone also extends into sustainable industry. HIPER Plastic signed a $40 million agreement to establish the first recycling project in Qantara West.

Implemented in two phases over 100,000 square metres, the plant uses zero-emission technologies to recycle PET and other plastic materials into industrial inputs such as HDPE and polypropylene. The project will create around 700 direct jobs and adds a circular-economy layer to the zone’s industrial mix.

Eroğlu Moda Tekstil: Ready-made garments

Complementing Eroğlu’s large industrial investments, Eroğlu Moda Tekstil is building a $5.6 million ready-made garments factory in Qantara West.

The facility targets export markets almost exclusively, with up to 95 percent of output shipped abroad, and will employ around 700 workers. The project reinforces SCZone’s strategy of attracting vertically integrated textile and apparel manufacturers.

Egyptian–Turkish logistics alliance: Container yards

Turkish investment is also supporting logistics infrastructure. An Egyptian–Turkish alliance led by Sigma Logistics & Containers from Turkey signed $4.2 million agreements to establish customs-bonded container yards in Qantara West and Sokhna.

While smaller in scale, the project plays a critical role in reducing logistics friction for manufacturers by offering container storage, handling, and repair services close to production sites.

Why these projects matter

Taken together, Turkish investments in SCZone span textiles, packaging, recycling, and logistics, creating a tightly linked industrial ecosystem rather than isolated factories. For Egypt, the model delivers jobs, exports, and technology transfer. For Turkish firms, Qantara West offers cost competitiveness, trade-agreement access, and proximity to Europe, Africa, and the Middle East.

The clustering effect is the real story: SCZone is no longer just attracting factories—it is building an integrated manufacturing corridor where Turkish capital plays a central role.
