Generative AI is becoming an invisible tool for all creatives: programmers, copywriters and graphic designers will benefit. Will this put them out of work? Probably not. In marketing, both image generators and traditionally created images by photographers and graphic designers play a crucial role. Here are some key arguments for both approaches:

Arguments for using image generators:

  1. Scalability and efficiency : Image generators can produce a large number of images in a matter of seconds, which is particularly useful when large amounts of visual content are required, such as for social media campaigns or personalized advertising.
  2. Cost-effectiveness : Creating images using AI can be more cost-effective than hiring professional photographers and graphic designers, especially when a high volume of images is required.
  3. Creativity and adaptability : Modern image generators can generate innovative and unique images based on text descriptions that reinforce specific marketing messages or are tailored to specific target audiences.
  4. Consistency : AI tools can produce images that are stylistically consistent, helping to create a unified brand identity.
  5. Rapid iteration and A/B testing : Image generators allow you to quickly create and test different visual concepts to see which ones resonate best with your audience.

Arguments for using images taken by photographers and graphic designers:

  1. Authenticity and Emotionality : Real photographs can convey emotion and a sense of authenticity that is often difficult to replicate. This is especially important when the brand values genuineness and human connection.
  2. Uniqueness and exclusivity : Professionally created images are often unique and can help a business stand out from the competition, especially in crowded markets.
  3. High quality and professionalism : Professional photographers and graphic designers bring expertise and technical skills that often result in higher quality, sharper and more detailed images.
  4. Specific requirements : In certain cases, such as product photography or portraits, the expertise of a professional may be essential to achieve the best results.
  5. Legal security : With professionally created images, especially under contract, copyrights and usage rights are usually clearly regulated, which reduces legal risks.

It is important for marketing managers to find the right mix between these two approaches in order to take advantage of both the efficiency and innovation of digital tools and the quality and authenticity that professional images can offer.

German AI takes the best pictures

The German company Black Forest Labs is causing a stir in the technology industry with its new AI image generator Flux.1. Flux.1, the developers' latest creation, produces particularly realistic images that, according to the company, outperform competitors such as Midjourney in tests. Particularly noteworthy is Flux.1's ability to reliably generate realistic hands, faces and even text. The US tech magazine Tom's Guide is already calling Flux.1 the "new king of image generators".

The most important image generators

In an extensive test, Hubspot examined nine popular AI image generators to find out which tools deliver the best results for marketing managers. AI image generators use millions of existing images, descriptions, and captions from the internet to create new, unique images.

App creates prompts from images

Imagetoprompts is a novel web application that offers a reverse method of image generation using artificial intelligence. Instead of creating images from text, it generates precise descriptions from uploaded images. This feature allows users to upload an image of their choice and receive a detailed textual description of the content. This can be particularly beneficial for users who have difficulty putting visual concepts into words. The generated descriptions can then be fed into well-known image generation tools such as Midjourney or DALL-E.

Shopify delivers product images

Shopify is introducing new features as part of its Winter Edition, including an AI-powered product image editor, Ivan Mehta reports on TechCrunch. Shopify's Magic Media Editor allows merchants to enhance product images by editing backgrounds and scenes using generative AI, with seven styles to choose from.

Copyright does not protect AI images

In a recent case before the Prague Municipal Court, a landmark decision was made regarding the use of AI-generated images. The case concerned an image created by DALL-E and used on a website. The court ruled that such images are not subject to copyright protection because they do not originate from a human creator. This legal position is in line with common case law in the EU, which states that only human creators can claim copyright on their works.
