More and more manufacturers are integrating generative artificial intelligence into their products. And there are interesting alternatives to ChatGPT. Whether it's meetings or content creation: everyday work is becoming easier and more efficient.

Claude follows ChatGPT

AI startup Anthropic has introduced Claude Pro, a premium subscription for its chatbot Claude 2. For $20/£18 a month, customers get priority access and more usage. Anthropic competes with OpenAI's ChatGPT Plus, explaining the usage limits due to high hosting costs for such models. The company plans to develop advanced self-learning AI models and has raised $1.45 billion so far. Much of the revenue will be used for computing capacity.

New chips are coming

Start-up d-Matrix has raised $110m to commercialise an AI computing platform that is cheaper than GPU alternatives. Because of the growing AI demand, companies like Nvidia can barely keep up. Large companies like Microsoft and Amazon are developing their own AI chips. But for smaller players, start-ups like d-Matrix could offer an alternative. There are fears that the AI industry will be split into "GPU-rich" giants and "GPU-poor" start-ups. D-Matrix could promote equal opportunities in this regard.

Language barriers fall

Reddit has introduced a translation feature for posts in eight languages, including English and German, for Android and iOS. Users click on a button below their Redditor username to translate. The feature is also available for logged-out web users. In addition, Reddit is testing translations for comments and plans a multilingual conversation environment. Reddit has also updated its help centre and launched a new programme to support moderators.

Zoom documents meetings

Zoom has launched "AI Companion" for video meetings, providing summaries for missed meetings, dividing recorded meetings into chapters and soon assisting with message replies. Privacy concerns have been raised as third-party AI models can access some data. However, Zoom emphasises not using communication data for AI training and offers to disable AI features. It was confirmed that data may also be stored in US data centres.

Salesforce with Copilot

Salesforce launched 'Einstein Copilot Studio', a tool to customise their AI offerings, at the Dreamforce conference. It offers three core functions: customising prompts, adding actions and integrating own or third-party models. In addition, Salesforce is developing an "Einstein Trust Layer" for security and privacy. The Studio enables better customisation to company-specific needs and will be introduced this autumn.
