The New and Renewable Energy Authority of Egypt (NREA) allocated 5.2 sqkm for the establishment of renewable energy products.

These lands are open to government and private sector projects in the clean energy field, as part of the government’s pan to enhance the production and reliability on clean and renewable energy up to 70% of the total electricity.

These lands will be given to projects with a timeframe of 8-10 years, and have the capacity to produce around 60,000 megawatts.

The lands lie in the areas of Zaafarana, Suez gulf, Aswan, Benban and West and East Nile areas.

When implemented, these projects are expected to create more than 2 million jobs for the local market both directly and indirectly.

The 3rd Quarter of FY 2021/2022 witnessed an increase in clean energy production up to 3,570 watts from solar, wind, hydroelectric and biofuels projects, compared to same period in the previous fiscal year.
