Siemens to establish an electric railway in Egypt

The German giant signed an MOU to establish the 1000kms railway line. The 1st stage will link Red Sea and Mediterranean.

Siemens, the German conglomerate signed this week an MOU with the Egyptian Ministry of Transport to establish a high-speed electric railway in Egypt.

 

The first stage of the project will be ready in 2 years, it will be 460Kms long linking El-Ain El-Sokhna in Suez governorate, overseeing the Red Sea, with New Al-Alamein City on the Mediterranean coast. In this stage the train will pass through Egypt’s New Administrative Capital.

 

Representatives from Siemens met President AbdelFattah El-Sisi to discuss the project.The whole project will be 1000kms around Egypt with a total cost of 360billion Egyptian pounds.
