Egyptians can now book their next trip between Cairo and Alexandria via Uber app. The company announced the launch of its intercity transport service with a route between Cairo and Alexandria as a first step before expanding to more governorates.
Egypt was chosen as the first market globally to launch this service as a testing environment. Uber had previously used Egypt as a testing environment for intracity transport within Cairo which was then applied in Ukraine and Mexico.
Customers will be able to book the time they prefer between 8 rides daily with 9 pick-up/drop-off points in Cairo and Alexandria. The service will run 7 days a week.
Ahmed Khalil, Uber Egypt’s GM stressed that Uber will adhere to the safety measures related to COVID-19 where the buses will allow a limited number of passengers and they s will have to wear face masks during the ride. There will also be adequate distancing between seating.
