Mwaslat Masr launches SMART transportation

The project is launched in cooperation with UAE partners with EGP 1bn worth of investments. It is still in testing period.

Mwaslat Masr launched 180 new vehicles in the streets of Cairo (100 Mini bus and 80 smart air conditioned buses) to test the new “Smart” transportation system in the preliminary period that concludes June 2018.

70% of Mwaslat Masr shares are owned by Emirates National Group, the leading transportation giant The project is launched in cooperation with Cairo governorate.

The new busses will allow passengers to buy tickets electronically on the bus and offer new levels of comfort and safety, stated Ahmed Aboud the Chief Executive of Emirates National Group.

The buses are all air conditioned, has 2 doors one for entrance and one for exit, have wifi on board and a screen that shows the itinerary. The buses also have an announcement for every station, surveillance cameras and 30% of the vehicles are equipped to serve customers with disabilities.

A card for smart transportation will be available with value ranging from 10 to 100 EGP. The new project targets 8 million commuters in 2 and half years from the official launch, it will also employ 3600 workers, engineers and drivers with average salary EGP 4000.
The new project will have 52 lines including metro station stops.
