Cairo ICT to host IFICTA Conference

Minister Atef Helmy stated that Cairo ICT 2014 will host the IFICTA Conference to open up new investment horizons for Egyptian companies.
Minister of Communications and Information Technology Eng. Atef Helmy revealed that Cairo will host a regional conference held by IFICTA in cooperation with “Etisal” from 3-5 November. The conference will be held on the sidelines of Cairo ICT 2014 held from 4-7 November at the Cairo International Conference Center with the aim of supporting Egyptian-African relations and opening up new investment horizons between Africa and Egypt.
Helmy added that the hosting of this conference came as a result of the regional and pivotal role Egypt is playing in the ICT sector, as this round of Cairo ICT is held under the slogan “In the Heart of the Future”.

On the other hand, IDC research revealed that expenditure rates on IT in the African continent – with the exception of South Africa – will reach 26.4 billion dollars by 2018, with a compound annual growth rate reaching 7.03%, double the international growth rate which reaches 3.81%.

Ossama Kamal, Managing Director of Tradefairs International, the organizer of Cairo ICT 2014 in its eighteenth round, said, “Egypt comes in the lead of North African countries in terms of the volume of money transfers from Egyptians working and living abroad, estimated at USD 20 billion in 2013, compared to 1.02 billion in Sudan, and almost 2 billion in Algeria. He pointed out that Egypt has close commercial and economic ties with many African countries. This encouraged us to host this important event”.

Kamal added that the seventeenth round of the exhibition witnessed unprecedented African participation, as ministers of African countries
He went on to say that the African continent is still a fertile land for Egyptian companies to open up new investment horizons in the fields of software and IT services to present Egyptian solutions capable of automating the health, industry and education sectors.
