Today, following an online call for Egyptian participants, the program was officially launched at Fairmont Nile Towers. Samsung is keen to maintain a sustainable, nation-wide program that will help identifying promising developers and offer them the means by which they can build on their skills and improve their career. All the winners in the mobile applications category will have the chance to join ‘Samsung Partnership Program’; which will allow them to capitalize on Samsung's global expertise, with their applications being marketed through Samsung as well workshops organized by Samsung being offered, to develop both their technical and entrepreneurial skills. Samsung will also offer the top three winners in the mobile applications category the chance to attend Samsung International Developer Day.

“Last year’s round proved that Egyptian youth have great potential in the application development field. As such, we decided to take it to the next level this year, by creating a sustainable project that will allow more promising developers to enhance their skills,” said Duke Park, Vice president of Samsung Egypt. “At Samsung, we realize that the best way to sustain our position as a leader in the applications market is through investing in talented developers and giving them a chance to benefit from our vast expertise. Our initiative is projected to contribute greatly to the Egyptian mobile applications market, especially in light of the growth in the number of mobile subscribers locally, which stands at 96 million as of January 2013[1].”

The information and communications technology industry in Egypt is a fast and growing sector that employs over 216 thousand people in Egypt.[2] Offering developers an unprecedented opportunity to get their ideas out on to the international market, Samsung's initiative is expected to significantly support the growth of the sector. Through Entaleq, participants will have the chance to develop the skills needed to successfully work and compete in the industry, with the possibility of some of them even working with Samsung at a future stage.

“Entaleq is more than just a mobile application developers’ challenge. This year, Samsung is providing talented developers with the chance to enhance their skills and successfully build their careers by offering the necessary tools they need to utilize their potential to the maximum,” said Sherif Barakat, Head of HHP Division at Samsung Egypt. “Over the past year, Egypt has seen an increase of almost 1% in the number of mobile internet users reaching over 10 million users[3]; which reveals the market’s great potential. As such, Samsung is committed to take the lead and explore this potential, by hosting Egypt’s first and biggest knowledge-transfer developers’ initiative.”

The Entaleq initiative will gather Egypt’s best mobile application developers. Furthermore, the top developers will be chosen based on a set of criteria determined by Samsung, to insure entries are original, innovative and uniquely designed.
