Highlighting their ongoing commitment to the Egyptian market providing quality products, and to celebrate the one year anniversary of their first store opening Makro Egypt will be hosting a tent at its Salam store which will offer the best market prices for a selection of food and non-food products for professional customers.

Additionally, business professionals at the Makro store in Qualioubeya will enjoy benefits of up to 50% discounts on selected products there.

Talking about Makro's one year anniversary, Managing Director of Makro Egypt Francois Oliver said, "Today is a milestone in journey into the Egyptian market. We are delighted to still be here after one year and extremely proud that our business continues to grow. Despite a few road blocks along the way, Makro is here to stay and this anniversary highlights our renewed commitment to the Egyptian market and the Egyptian people."

The Salam Store tent which will be 300sqm, will offer 120 select core products including 80 food, and 40 non-food products. Since the Salam store was burned down earlier this year Makro has continued to pay their Salam store employees monthly wages in full, 66 of Salam's 235 workers will be working at the tent.

Since entering the Egyptian market Makro has undertaken several initiatives, in addition to their store expansions, namely their Farmers project which has now trained over 600 farmers across Egypt in farming best practises. Since graduating from the project these farmers have witnessed a 25% increase in productivity, with daily collection volumes increasing from 1 ton to 12 tons a day and expectations that this will reach 50 tons by the end of the year.
