The key role is to provide legal consultation and advisory to 4 MEASA Countries (Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon and PNA) and to regional management, as well as to home office when required, on day-to-day basis. This includes advice on insurance issues (e.g. claims, products, etc), corporate law, commercial law, contract law, labor law, litigation, new and existing legislation, regulations…etc.

Job Description:

• Providing legal guidance to all business units in the above mentioned countries.
• Closely coordinating with the local and regional (as well as home office when required) compliance functions on all legal related matters.
• Negotiating, analysing, drafting, reviewing and interpreting various legal documents.
• Advising on and implementing legal processes and procedures to be undertaken by all departments.
• Instructing external counsel to advice and/or act on behalf of the company on any given legal matter as well as following up with regards to the same and managing the relationship.
• Providing corporate secretarial services to the company when required including the revision and drafting of various procedural documents such as legalizations, powers of attorney…etc.
• Interacting with government departments and agencies on various regulatory matters such as proposed laws, regulations and government policies in a variety of areas such as insurance, tax where applicable, labour, corporate, etc.
• Liasing with ministries, courts and members of the legal profession on all matters related to the company’s legal affairs.
• Assists in the revision and amendment of the company’s policies and procedures.
• Ensure on constant basis that all related laws and regulations are fully adhered to by the Company.
• Any other duties as assigned by Regional General Counsel.

Skills

Candidate should have an in depth knowledge of the laws in Egypt and a general knowledge of Middle East laws.

• Should be a Graduate in Law. A master’s degree in law or management from an internationally reputable university is a strong advantage.
• Minimum 7 years experience in a similar legal advisor position (preferably in the insurance industry).
• Must be a bi-lingual with an excellent command of English and Arabic (for all drafting, communicating and negotiating purposes).
