Gas Production Expert

Apache Corporation’s Egypt Region is seeking a qualified expatriate to work as the Gas Production Expert on a contract basis.

Position Purpose:

The position is to co-manage national staff in all aspects of gas gathering and plant operations to achieve production targets; manage the use of and initiate improvements in the Safety and Environmental Management Systems across all operating gas fields and plant facilities; work with cross-department staff to facilitate systems maintenance, modifications, upgrades and testing to the best achievable standard; and to provide leadership and mentoring to the gas operations workforce.

Primary Areas of Responsibility:

Khalda’s gas operations in the Salam Base Area span many facilities with daily production exceeding 800 MMSCFD and 35,000 bpd of condensate. The Gas Production Expert will be responsible for supervising and overseeing operations at a number of surface facilities from the wellhead to central gathering and separation facilities to gas processing plants, including gas compressor installations and large diameter, high pressure pipelines

Accountabilities:

•Monitor daily operational and maintenance activities to ensure Safety and Environmental Management System compliance and “best industry practice”
•Monitor facility and associated equipment performance to promote achievement of production targets
•Mentor and support operations staff in the areas of safety and production operations
•Liaise with other departments to ensure operations requirements are implemented in a timely manner
•Identify and instigate facility improvements
•Review and provide feedback on proposed facility upgrades and new facilities
•Oversee construction and commissioning of new plant and equipment

Experience and Skills:

•Minimum of 10 years experience in Oil and Gas industry including a minimum of 5 years in a supervisory position
•Experience in Oil and Gas well operations and downstream processing of gas and hydrocarbon liquids
•Experience in management of remote oil and gas facilities and projects
•Engineering degree not required but an asset for the job
•High level of safety awareness and focus
•Solid understanding of applicable Gas & Petroleum Legislation, Rules, Regulations and Guidelines
•Demonstrated leadership and communication skills and the ability to work with and develop a national workforce
•A strong focus on continuous improvement
•Sound decision-making capabilities
•Self motivated and the ability to function with minimum supervision
•Ability to work in a remote location on a fly in/fly out rotation
•Strong proficiency in business computer applications
•Excellent planning skills
•Other “soft skills” such as effective team building, inclusiveness and the ability to influence the organization to perform at a high level.
