Egypt’s banking sector net foreign assets rise to $22.9bn in April 2026

The US dollar exchange rate stood at EGP 54.6366 in March before easing to EGP 53.6663 in April.

According to a presidential statement, the meeting assessed Egypt’s economic reform programme and the impact of regional conflicts on inflation.

The package includes an EGP 300 mn tranche and USD 6.5 mn (c.EGP 343 mn) facility, earmarked to fund a 70-bed addition to the hospital.

The World Bank has increased its development financing for Egypt from $700 million to $1 billion to help the country absorb the economic tension.

Egypt has been re-elected to a non-permanent seat on the Board of Directors of the Arab Bank for Economic Development in Africa for the 26-29 term.
