The Managing Egypt's Balance of Trade Conference will take place on the 15th of September 2014 at the Four Seasons Nile Plaza Hotel.

“Enhancing Trade through the Suez Canal Corridor Development Project” will be the main theme of this one day conference which will bring together experts in the fields of trade, finance, shipping, third party logistics, manufacturing and investment to further discuss the impact of the this mega project on Egypt’s trade related sectors, the economy and people. As Egypt embarks upon one of the most challenging national projects since the original digging of the Suez Canal in the 1860’s, the international community is attentively following the developments of this global scale project, while analyzing and anticipating the real impact of the Suez Canal Corridor on global trade.

The Suez Canal Corridor is not only expected to transform the Suez region on both sides of the canal, but also transform Egypt’s economy at large, providing thousands of new job opportunities, improving lives in surrounding communities, attracting domestic, regional and global investments, developing a vibrant manufacturing sector and most importantly, positively impacting Egypt’s current balance of trade.

Despite the fact that Egypt is signatory to numerous bilateral and multilateral agreements and protocols such as the COMESA, GAFTA, Association Agreement, Qualified Industrial Zones, Egypt-Turkey FTA, and PAFTA, just to mention a few, Egypt has been recording trade deficits since 2004. Yet with almost 8% of annual global seaborne trade going through Egypt the opportunities for growth and development are endless. Join us at the Al Mal GTM Conference on Managing Egypt’s Balance of Trade on Monday September 15th 2014 as we explore these opportunities and discuss the challenges ahead.
