Egypt, China team up for $1B tire mega-plant

The project is expected to play a key role in Egypt’s strategy to strengthen its automotive industry and boost local manufacturing.

Thanks to South Sinai’s high temperatures, the first harvest was achieved in just 127 days after planting, significantly faster than usual.

China has been looking to step up its economic activity in Egypt, including in projects involving ports, green hydrogen, industry and space.

Topics included potential project sites, proposed transmission line routes, results of meetings between the Egyptian and Greek grid operators.

Egypt’s Ministry of Industry and Transport has begun developing a comprehensive national database to map the key demands.
