Automotive market sales rise 14.4% during July

In April, sales of passenger cars recorded a 26 percent decline, affected by the precautionary measures imposed by the government due to COVID-19.

This comes despite auto market sales in Q2 of 2020 reportedly being declining 3.8% y-o-y, and 35.3% quarter-on-quarter, amounting to 37,400 units.

The beginning of 2019 witnessed the full application of the EU-Egypt Association Agreement which removed tariffs on European origin cars.

Egypt’s vehicle sales dropped by 5.2 per cent year-on-year in February to reach 10,857 vehicles, down from 11,454 vehicles last year.

Passenger car sales were down by 10 per cent during the period from January to May 2019, according to the July report of the AMIC.
