Despite benefiting from a domestic market buoyed by anti-dumping measures, Ezz Steel, has been immune to Egypt's high interests.

The extension means the tariffs will now remain valid until Dec 6.

The cost of Egyptian rebars has risen to 10,500-10,600 EGP per tonne from 9,000 pounds last month.

The decision is intended to protect the local industry from imported alternatives.

The decision is estimated to save the country $1.1 billion in foreign currency currently spent on importing billet and raise production and exports.
