Egyptian trade delegation to visit Turkey mid-September

The Federation of Egyptian Chambers of Commerce is organizing a visit to Turkey with the aim of attracting foreign investment into Egypt and supporting Egyptian exports to Turkish markets.

The FECC announced on Tuesday, September 6, that the trip is scheduled to take place from September 17th through to the 12th. It is to comprise a high-ranking delegation of Egyptian entrepreneurs who will be meeting a number of their Turkish counterparts to discuss the trade deficit crisis that has negatively affected trade between the two countries.

The FECC press release mentioned that most Turkish traders had refrained from importing commodities from Egypt because of a Turkish decision to impose temporary safeguard duties on imports from certain countries which including Egypt. This has led to a rise in the price of Egyptian commodities visa vie the Turkish market.

The most important Turkish exports to Egypt are iron and steel products; fertilizer phosphates, copper wire, ammonium nitrate, cotton yarn, salt and other chemical materials.
