Egyptian Foreign Minister Mohamed Kamel Amr will pay a visit to the Czech Republic next week, the Czech Foreign Ministry told CTK Wednesday.

After the downfall of President Hosni Mubarak earlier this year, Prague has wanted to help Egypt with its transformation.

President Vaclav Klaus mentioned Egypt at the annual meeting with Czech ambassadors on Tuesday.

Klaus stressed that on account of historical reasons, the Czech Republic should focus on aid to Egypt.

Amr will meet his Czech opposite number Karel Schwarzenberg and will be received by Klaus next Thursday.

Klaus has voiced concern over the developments in this and other Arab countries now seized with large-scale unrest and violent protests.

Prague started ascertaining how Czechs could help Egypt during the transformation period toward democracy this March.

"We are offering the experience that is historically relatively recent to Egypt," Czech ambassador Pavel Kafka said in March.

"A part of our activities and sources, especially the human ones, has been directed so. We are trying to find out where the experience could be passed by our people and what models could be applied in Egypt," he added.

Prague can offer its experience in the economic, fiscal and NGO spheres.

Mubarak is now facing a trial over the death of over 800 demonstrators during the January and February protests that forced him to resign on February 11.
