Boeing and EgyptAir partnered with the Egyptian American Scientists and Engineers (EASE) to transport a consignment of wheelchairs and clothing to Egypt.

The 2.11-tonne shipment comes as part of Boeing’s Humanitarian Delivery Flights programme and includes 40 electric and regular wheelchairs which will be delivered to Egypt The Hope organisation.

The shipment also includes an additional consignment of clothing for the Egypt-based non-profit organisation Resala.

“Boeing, through its Global Corporate Citizenship organization, supports relief efforts around the world in partnership with nongovernmental agencies and nonprofits like Egyptian American Scientists and Engineers,” said Liz Warman, Global Corporate Citizenship Northwest director.

“Through these collaborative efforts and with our airline partners, we bring relief and hope to people in need.”

Over the years Boeing has facilitated more than 140 humanitarian delivery flights, working in partnership with nearly 50 different airlines worldwide.

“EgyptAir, the flag carrier is constantly looking at ways to contribute to the development of the Egyptian communities,” said Captain Hossam Kamal, chairman and CEO, EgyptAir Holding. “I would like to thank our partners at Boeing and the members of EASE for driving this initiative to bring wheel chairs and clothing to those in need in our country.”

The airplane used to deliver the humanitarian shipment is EgyptAir’s 18th Next-Generation Boeing 737.
