FAO ready to develop agriculture sector in Egypt

The United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) stands fully ready to maintain cooperation with Egypt and offer its experiences in the fields related to agriculture development, affirmed FAO's chief José Graziano da Silva.

Da Silva made the remarks Thursday 25/08/2011 during his meeting with Prime Minister Essam Sharaf, in the presence of Agriculture and Land Reclamation Minister Salah el-Sayyed.

Da Silva further said that the Egyptian government has a vested interest in promoting the country's agricultural capabilities and improving the agriculture sector. He also extended FAO's congratulations to the Egyptian people on the success of the January 25 Revolution.

For his part, Sharaf congratulated Da Silva on the occasion of assuming his new post in January, voicing hope to maintain cooperation between Egypt and FAO.
