JW Marriott becomes Egypt's first power saving hotel

The hotel cooperated with the Ministry of Electricity and Power to install LED lighting systems to save energy and protect the environment.

Minister of Electricity and Power Mohamed Shaker announced that the ministry successfully switched the lighting system of JW Marriott Cairo to LED power saving technology to improve efficiency and save energy.

The Cairo hotel organized a conference about improving power for lighting and electric appliances. Along with Shaker the attendees included Deputy Minister of Tourism for Power Emad Hassan and the Director General of UN Development Program in Egypt.

Shaker added that this project is of high importance to Marriott international due to its positive effects on the environment by limiting harmful carbon emissions. CEO of the holding company Mounir Ghabbour was quick to approve the project.

The General Manager of JW Marriott and Renaissance Mirage City Cairo hotels Magdy Naguib stated the importance of using LED power saving technology that proved efficient by saving 20% of the hotel's electricity consumption.
The technology doesn't just lower the electricity load but also the thermal load as opposed to old lighting systems, LED lamps have no thermal loads.
