Egypt’s Cabinet Information and Decision Support Center (IDSC) issued, Monday a report shedding light on the global medical tourism industry, especially in Egypt.

IDSC explained that medical tourism means health tourism or medical travel, which is a rapidly growing industry that involves individuals traveling to other countries to receive or provide treatment or medical care.

Over the past decade, medical tourism has gained great popularity around the world and has become an attractive option for doctors.

Egypt is one of the first countries in this field. It is known for its natural healing, which contributes significantly to the health tourism market; It provides treatments based on natural resources such as a suitable climate, mineral water springs, sulfur water baths, mud and hot sand. All of these things make Egypt a preferred destination for medical tourism worldwide.

In 2017, Egypt launched the (Tour n' Cure) initiative to bring hepatitis C patients to Egypt for tourism and treatment.

Egypt announced in 2019 that it would provide free hepatitis C testing and treatment to one million people in 14 countries in Africa, in cooperation With the World Health Organization.

The report highlighted the most famous therapeutic tourist places in Egypt, including the Bahariya Oasis, Kharga Oasis, and Aswan, which has two sand and water treatment centers used to treat rheumatoid arthritis due to the salts in sea water and ultraviolet rays, in addition to the use of natural black sand.

Also, Siwa Oasis, which contains 230 natural freshwater springs and 1000 natural flowing wells. The “Dakrour Mountain” is the most famous used to treat rheumatic diseases.

All of this indicates that Egypt has all the elements of medical tourism, which is why many individuals travel to it to receive medical treatment every year.
