The Egyptian military court issued a ruling sentencing the advisor to the Minister of Supply to 18 years in prison, fined him LE1,580,000 and US$14,000, and dismissed him from his position.

The Administrative Control Authority had apprehended the advisor and the General Manager of the Office of the Chairman of a sugar company for receiving bribes from the owner of a flour mill and another who owned a supply company.

The bribes were in exchange for allocating large quantities of sugar to their companies before raising its price and withholding it from the markets from citizens, which contributed to the increase in its price.

The court issued a ruling sentencing the General Manager to seven years in prison and dismissal of his position.
