The Independent Trade Union of Workers (ITUW) at Telecom Egypt (TE) filed four lawsuits to stop the sale of the operator's 45 percent stake in Vodafone Egypt. According to Daily News, the case was registered in Cairo and the first hearing was set for 9 April.

ITUW chairman Mohammed Abu Quraish said nothing in investment laws obliges TE to disassociate from Vodafone in order to be transformed into an integrated operator that offers mobile as well as fixed services. He stressed that minority shareholders of TE are able to stop the disassociation process. Furthermore, the holding in Vodafone Egypt is a financial investment for TE, with no rights to management.
