An official ministerial mission heads to the U.S.A that aims to reinforce bilateral relations between the two countries in the field of ICT

An official delegation led by Minister of Communications and Information Technology Dr. Magued Osman heads to the United
States in an official ministerial mission that aims to reinforce bilateral relations between the two countries in the field of ICT.
Setting an example of the strong ties between Egypt and the United States in political, economic and social arena, the ICT sector has been the cornerstone of the issues of mutual interest.
The delegation participates in "Egypt: Forward" forum held on June 27-28, 2011, in Washington, D.C. The two-day forum is followed by a site visit to Silicon Valley at California on June 29 - July, 1, 2011. A high- level delegation of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology participates at the forum.
The Ministry of Communications and Information Technology delegation to the forum entails representatives of the ministry, Telecom Egypt, Technology Innovation and Entrepreneurship Center (TIEC), as well as Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA).
The forum encourages trade and sustainable economic development in Egypt. Over 60 leading Egyptian policy makers and private sector executives together with U.S. business leaders and government officials are to gather at the forum. The Forum provides an unprecedented opportunity to encourage business-to-business networking and highlighting commercial opportunities and financing resources.
The forum sessions focus on four priority economic sectors: energy, communications and information technology, agriculture and transportation. Discussions entail the economic outlook for Egypt as well as the possible project opportunities. Renowned experts will explore the current economic environment in Egypt.
U.S. firms, during this session, get acquainted with the required technologies, equipment and services for the featured sector. The event includes organizing workshops about “Assessing Financing Options” regarding ICT sector, energy, agribusiness and transportation, providing guidance to the groups’ analysis of various financing instruments for international projects.
The ICT site visit to Silicon Valley allows the delegation to meet with private U.S. companies and public sector authorities in Silicon Valley, California. During the visit, delegates participate in a business briefing, where they have the opportunity to meet one-on-one with U.S. participants.
New channels of collaboration between Egypt and the US on several levels, are likely to be opened by this visit, especially in view of the special interest given by the US to Egypt after the 25th January Revolution. A number of agreements are expected to be signed with American companies, which will pump more investments and enter into alliances with their Egyptian counterparts.
It is also worth mentioning that Ministry of Communications and Information Technology has paid ministerial official visits in the last years to the United States of America on a regular basis, however this year, the visit is expected to gain more outcomes, especially
after the 25th Revolution.
